Pippins Pre-School is an independently run, charitable organisation based in the Community Room at East Markham Primary School and has been providing education through play for 2 1/2 - 5 year olds from East Markham and the surrounding villages for over 15 years.
We have a bright classroom with a wide range of activities for the children, including painting, drawing/mark making, books, jigsaws, sand/water trays, small world play, blocks, music, a very popular role-play area, and many more. Your child's key worker will work with your child, following the EYFS curriculum. Please click here for more details on how we implement this.
We also have an 'indoor/outdoor' room. This gives us yet more space for the children and provides an extra area to play in when the weather is not suitable to be outside.
Our outdoor area is spacious and we have a large range of activities available. We also make use of the adjoining Primary School play area, with slide and climbing apparatus, as well as their bikes in the playground, when the Primary children are in lessons.
In good weather the doors to the classroom are left open so children can be outside as much as possible. With our generous staff ratios, we are able to maintain close supervision.
We work hard to ensure all children are cared for in a safe, happy environment. As part of this we comply with the procedures approved by the local Safeguarding Children’s Board (LCSB) Nottingham. All staff are DBS checked to ensure their suitability for working with children and they are all trained in up to date Safeguarding. They also undergo a thorough interview and induction period to ensure, along with our comprehensive Safeguarding Policy, that they are the right people to work at Pippins.

Pippins follows the revised EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum. The EYFS is the statutory framework that sets the standards that all Early Years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children are ready for school and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life. More information on how we implement the EYFS can be read here.
